The Storm Lake Municipal Band is tuning up for its 91st season of concerts in the historic Sunset Park Bandshell.  Seven concerts are scheduled for this season, including every Sunday afternoon in June and the first week of July. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.

The first concert is Sunday, June 1 at 2 p.m. That season opening concert includes an open car show. Owners of classic and specialty cars are invited to take part, with no registration necessary. A parking area for the vehicles opens at 1 p.m. Most of the concerts begin at 2 p.m.

A special July 3 evening concert takes place as part of the Star Spangled Spectacular activities, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Sunset Park.

The Municipal Band tradition continues to be strong, with one of the largest bands in memory performing last year. Musicians of all ages and from several area communities take part in the band, and newcomers are always welcome. The band performs a wide variety of music from marches and classical pieces to pop tunes and movie themes.
